A solo journey by bicycle dedicated to the children of Nepal
Why by bicycle?
Its the perfect speed. 15 kilometers per hour is the ideal pace to watch the world go by.
You are exposed to the elements. This can be a good thing and a bad thing, but ultimately very rewarding. You create a very fullfilled impression of the area you are travelling through. The Landscapes, the smells, the climate, the food, the culture and the locals.
You are 100% selfsuficient. You are carrying everything you need to get by on your own. A bicycle, tent, cooking stove, extra clothes and a passport is all you really need on a daily basis.
You put yourself in a vulnerable position. At the same time that you are self sufficient, you are also very vulnerable. In many occacions i will rely on locals for a place to pitch my tent. I choose to believe that this will challenge me at times, but also expose me to random acts of kindness from strangers.
To challenge myself. The distance from Stavanger to the Nepalese border is a least 14.000 kilometers. I will face a plethoria of challenges such as extreme cold and heat, loneliness, headwinds, mountain passes, deserts, miserable nights in the tent, cultural confusion, visa issues, angry dogs, food poisoning, disease and mechanical problems.
